Maurice J is one of those smooth voiced breathy brothers. When he sings, he draws the breath from his stomach and yours. You know these types of cats. The ones with voices so enigmatic ladies call them by their first name. and it’s always one of those simple names too. One that might sound corny attached to a lesser man. Will, Luther, Kem, D’Angelo and Maurice J. No bells and whistles on Maurice. The brother can sang. Maurice J been singing, writing, and composing music most of his life. As a singer, the music that constantly called upon him was still the sound that broke ground in Motown.
“Honestly, Stevie Wonder inspired me,” says Maurice. “Nothing else, other than that. I heard Songs in the Key of Life at the age of 10 and that was it. It was the start of my whole mindset in terms of wanting to sing.”
After releasing his debut solo album titled “Devoted” produced by Michael Powell the production genius behind the Legendary Anita Baker. Maurice J found some success on the Billboard Charts spending several weeks on the R & B top 100.
Maurice J is a studio professional who prefers the challenges of live performance. After taking time away to raise his family Maurice J has now stepped back on the music scene putting his production and writing skills center stage. With his soon to be released EP titled “Love Language” which is modeled after the highly popular book the “5 Love Languages” that breaks down the 5 key needs of love that we all desire.
“I feel I’m an 8 to 80 artists singing about happy endings and realistic conditions of life and love. I sing “Loves Languages”
